Charity Fundraiser 2019ROCKit
Our goal is to raise $500 to build and maintain one Little Library. Any funds collected over $500 will go towards ROCKit’s Reading is Fundamental grant. We are also collecting new and gently used children’s books.
We hit our goal! We were able to raise $565 to support the ROCKit Free Little Libraries program and its overall childhood reading program. The goal of $500 was to build and maintain one Free Little Library. The funds beyond the initial goal have gone towards the ROCKit Reading is Fundamental grant.
Additionally, we collected 229 new or gently used books which will help supply the ROCKit recycled reader program which stocks the “take one, leave one” Free Little Library locations.
We couldn’t have done it without your help!
Our 2019 Holiday Fundraiser
We are in our 6th year of doing a fundraiser in lieu of giving holiday gifts to our clients. Giving back warms the heart and we would like to encourage our clients, friends, and family to join in on our holiday fundraiser this season.
Our goal is to raise funds to support the ROCKit Free Little Libraries program and its overall childhood reading program. The goal of $500 will build and maintain one Free Little Library. Any funds beyond the initial goal that are donated by Blumark clients and friends will be directed to the ROCKit Reading is Fundamental grant.
Additionally, we are asking clients and friends to donate new or gently used children’s books at our Troy and Novi offices, to supply the ROCKit recycled reader program which stocks the “take one, leave one” Free Little Library locations.
ROCKit participates in the nationwide program to place Free Little Libraries in helpful locations, to help assure that children have access to more books. In this era of tablet use for reading, it is important that children have the chance to access real books for their enjoyment and education. Research shows that children who are read to, and who read themselves, have improved school readiness, language skills, and better vocabularies.
“ROCKit believes that every child should have the opportunity to learn through reading,” said Blumark Partner James Clark CFP®, ChFC®, CPFA, MBA, who also is a ROCKit Board member. “Their mission is aligned with our Blumark community service philosophy that focuses on literacy, and on creating a safer and more helpful world for local children in need.”

Thank you to everyone who donated to this season’s fundraiser. We were able to donate almost $700 towards the cause along with 17 toys. We received this message to share with everyone:
“I just wanted to reach out and say Thank you!!!! Thank you for your donation to our Giving Tree. Thank you for the coats and boots, gifts and cash donations. Also, thank you for volunteering the day of! I pray you enjoyed seeing and being part of that side of the giving tree.
We were able to bless over 40 families and over 100 kids. Your donation helped us supply the store so that kids in need had a Christmas and even more for these parents to be empowered to be parents…pick out the gifts, wrap them and on Christmas watch their child’s eyes light up.
Thank you for helping us make a difference in our community! Please pass on my thanks to all those who donated!
Michael Heiden | Lead Associate Pastor”

Charity Fundraiser 2017The Care House of Oakland County
Our 2017 Holiday Fundraiser
We are in our 4th year of doing a fundraiser in lieu of giving holiday gifts to our clients. Giving back warms the heart and we would like to encourage our clients, friends and family to join in on our holiday fundraiser this season. Our goal is to raise money for the Care House of Oakland County which benefits children and their families who have experienced child abuse. It shouldn’t hurt to be a child!
Our goal this year is to give 25 abuse training and prevention programs to benefit 25 children and their families. Each program costs $100 each. Blumark will match any donation given to the Care House up to $2,500. Let’s work together to make some children’s and their families have a better future.
Learn More About The Care House
There are 1.24 million people living in Oakland County. 273,000 of them are children. 1 in 10 of those children will be sexually abused before they turn 18.
CARE House of Oakland County is a children’s advocacy center, providing first-rate services to victims of child abuse and neglect. Our mission is to be a leading resource in the prevention of child abuse and neglect, and the protection of children through advocacy, education, intervention, research, training, and treatment, in collaboration with the community. Our vision is to affect the safety of every child in Oakland County through intervention, treatment and prevention.
CARE House currently offers the following programs:
Intervention and Treatment: When police and Children’s Protective Services receive reports of suspected child abuse, we provide forensic interviews for those children at our facility. Police and CPS attend the interview, which is designed to avoid re-traumatizing the child. We also provide therapy for these children and their non-offending family members. For child abuse victims, our Intervention and Treatment program offers a critical first step on the road to healing and an opportunity for children to reclaim their lives.
In 2016, CARE House provided 852 forensic interviews and 2,841 individual therapy sessions for child victims of abuse and their non-offending family members.

Charity Fundraiser 2016Live Like Max Foundation
We Did It With Your Help!
Each year we choose a charity to donate to in lieu of giving gifts to clients, and for the 2016 holiday season, we chose the “Live Like Max” Foundation. Thanks to you and your additional donations, we reached the goal of 100 EKG screenings to be donated in partnership with the Beaumont Hospital.
On Saturday, February 11th at the Seaholm High School, you can see the donations in action as screenings will take place from 9am-4pm for any student-athlete. There are currently 450 student-athletes registered to get screened that day. There will be 16 bays and 100 volunteer staff helping with the screenings.
EKG screenings are not part of a normal sports physical. This screening process will help identify if any student has “Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy” otherwise known as an enlarged heart.
We highly encourage anyone who can stop in to see the screenings firsthand, to do so. Open to the public is a Health Fair and CPR Classes in the gymnasium.
Again, thank you for all your help in making this year’s fundraiser a success and we look forward to working with you in 2017.
Learn More About “Live Like Max”
Maxwell John Pardington died on June 10, 2014 from “Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy” otherwise known as an enlarged heart. One quick, easy procedure could have spotted this defect in his heart, and he might still be alive today. However, since there were no outward signs or symptoms to let anyone know that anything was wrong, Max never received an echocardiogram or EKG. Our goal at Blumark, this past holiday season, was to give 100 EKG screenings to student athletes across Michigan. Each screening is only $25 and 100% of each donation goes towards the cause (not administration fees).
